About

Thirty years, never the same job, always the same work: join a team, roll up my sleeves, and listen. How do people actually do things - not how the org chart says they should? Where are the opportunities to improve? I don't show up with solutions. I show up with empathy and questions. Everyone at every level has a piece of the story, from leadership to the person filling out the forms. The picture only becomes clear when you've heard all of them.

I start by watching. How does your team actually work? Not the documented process - the real one. The workarounds, the copy-paste steps, the "we've always done it this way" habits. That's where the opportunity is.

I measure it, test a fix, and iterate until it works. Sometimes the fix is AI. Sometimes it's a script. Sometimes it's rearranging when something happens. The tool doesn't matter. The result does.

The throughline

2026 - present

Throughline Technical Services

Independent consulting, building, and shipping. AI-enabled process improvement, open source energy tools, a wellness testing nonprofit in design, and a personal memory app in development. Portland, Oregon.

2025 - 2026

Senior Software Developer - ZRT Laboratory

Clinical diagnostics. Brought in to innovate and modernize aging architecture while keeping the lab running. Sat with stakeholders across research, operations, accounting, and customer service - listening before building. Led initiative to unify siloed data for analysis-backed decisions. Where the consulting methodology crystallized.

2023 - 2024

Senior Software Developer - LiquidWire

Wearable technology. Architected core software for Bluetooth cloud-connected clothing. Explored liquid metal tech in medical and VR environments with rapid proof-of-concept prototypes. Close collaboration with customers to understand needs and deliver.

2016 - 2023

Revelar · Datto · OIA Global

Medical device software for breath analysis systems. Backup and disaster recovery tools that restored PCs from dead to live in minutes. Logistics software modernization post-Covid. Three different industries, same pattern: dive in, understand the real problem, build the fix.

2008 - 2016

HydroLogics · 4-Tell · Boeing/Jeppesen

NYC drinking water reservoir management with scientists and government engineers. E-commerce recommendation engines working directly with clients. Flight routing systems in one of the world's most regulated industries. Every role started the same way: learn the domain, understand the people, then build.

1995 - 2005

Manufacturing Engineering - Hewlett-Packard

Where it started. Global team designing and manufacturing DeskJet printers. Workplace safety, process optimization, production systems. Learning to see inefficiency in physical systems before applying the same thinking to software.

Let's build something.

Whether it's fixing a process, building a tool, or figuring out where AI actually helps - I'd like to hear about it.
